It's Sunday night and I'm setting up this personal learning environment called elgg.  It's a lot like MySpace where everyone gets their own Blog and can list the friends who share their interests.  

A few of the cool things about it are:

• You can subscribe and read RSS feeds here
• You can easily upload audio and video files as podcasts
• You can create a very extensive profile that highlights your interests as tags.  These are a good way to meet and make friends

The purpose of MyPlace - Community is to give all students and teachers participating in MyPlace, their place to pursue their own personal learnin.  Maybe you are very interested in the environment.  You might find other teachers at different schools who are specialists in climate change.  you will also find other students - maybe on the other side of the world - who share your interest.  So this is a place to focus on the joy of learning and to dissolve the artificial walls that schools sometimes put in the way.
