Big Mother

Are emerging technologies a cure or a curse? Are they disruptive or empowering?  Is it more important to protect students from online stalkers or their own selves?  Should school systems ensure that students can never do the wrong thing and constrict access and options or view mistakes as inevitable when choices seem infinite?  Is it enough to protect students at school if we turn a blind eye when they are home alone?  Will we use technology to be a Big Brother that snoops and punishes or a Big Mother who wants what’s best for our children?
